Want better mpg? Step on it!?!?

Actually I have noticed something similar but it requires a manual transmision. I seem to get about .5 to 1 mpg better if I drive like this:
Launch easy (no tire spin) and shift to 2nd quickly. Imediately floor it! Shift to 3rd at 3,000 rpm. Imediately floor it! Shift to 4th at 3,000 rpm. Always keep it at WOT but never alow more than 3,000 rpm untill you get up to speed, then put it in 5th.
I assume this gives better MPG because the computer has a different program for WOT that ignores emmisions requirements.

god if thats true i should be getting 50 mpg instead of 13.7 mpg===guys that is a little hard to believe--it goes against every thing i have ever heard, but i sure want to believe it.---lol
I once read somewhere that BMW recommended close to full throttle acceleration for best mileage. The thinking is to avoiding lengthy acceleration periods, which have the greatest effect on mileage.

Hey, it sounds good to me. Most of the time people are telling me I'm a bad driver for accelerating quickly. Well that is why I do. Yah, thats the reason!

The article was apparently written for motorcycles and most bikes are still carburated, not to mention the power to weight ratio of motorcycles compared to cars and trucks. So I wouldn't go stand on the throttle and expect an improvement in MPG, although you WILL have more fun.
Well, I'm tempted to buy a motorcycle. Another advantage is no door cracks! Actually, we had a 4 cyl. 5 speed Toyota a few years back that got better mpg driven hard than babied. It liked to be revved up going through the gears. Do motorcycles have AOD trannies? I've been using the old technique of pretending there's a fresh egg between my foot and the pedal and I don't want to crack the shell. My in town mileage is nothing to brag about, though. I'll try standing on the pedal and see how that does. Probably be more fun.
