I do fleet maint for an Irrigation company, they have a 99 and 00, both with utitily bodys, the 00 is a crew cab, they report getting 20-22 mpg even when loaded and towing a 4500lb machine.

helper,
We have F-350 4x4 Crewcabs at work. We don't track the mileage, but I did over a month when I used one. The one I was driving had 66K miles on it, in the dead of Alaska weather with snow tires...and it got 15-17 mpg depending on how much idling I did to warm it up. I'd say this is a worst case mileage you'd see. Hope this helps.

i get around 17 to 20 mpg of city driving around Houston, with the ac on high. I have not done any unloaded highway yet. I am heading from Houston to Arizone in 2 weeks totally unloaded except for 2 ppl. That is where I am curious about the mileage. I will post that when i get back.

I don't own one but know lots of guys who do as I do the RV thing winters. Plenty of RVers are towing 34-40 ft. fifth wheel trailers with slideouts with HD powerstroke trucks. The reports I get average about 13 mpg towing and 20 mpg not towing. The fifth wheels are heavy and stand tall so there is a lot of wind resistance. For heavy duty towing there is no better pickup.
