Yikes: 25,000 mile oil change? Does anyone actually remember this? I was only 8 years old at the time.

Give me a case of that stuff - $3.95 is the best price I've seen!

I remember those ads in the auto magazines my dad subscribed to. At the time I didn't know it, but I'd suspect they were pointing to AMSOIL with this ad.

$3.95 a quart in 1978 was a small fortune for motor oil. I can remember changing the oil in my car for about 50 cents a quart.

I remember the oil cans too...didn't have the twist off cap...had the metal top. One had to puncture the top with the 'perforating spout looking thing' I can't remember the technical name for it, but I know what it looks like. Cool find though.

Technical name was "Oil Can Spout".

'perforating spout looking thing'

Most of us just used a can opener aka "screwdriver".

I put the then-new Mobil 1 in my brand new '78 Datsun 280Z (my first new car) and got a rod knock. I'm forever tainted on synthetic oil.

Thumbs up

I'm looking at it this way, in almost 25 years, the stuff has only gone up $1 per quart. Pretty good!

Good Point Blizzard,

but you should get it at BJ'S Wholesale, I'm paying just about the same price for it as 1978......23 dollars and change for a sixpack.
