quaker state synthetic blend
Has anybody used this? A local auto parts store has it on sale for 1.99 a quart and I was thinking if that is a good price I might get some.

Synthetic belnd is a waste of money IMO. Most of them are around 30% synthetic and 70% dino. This is the worst of both worlds - either save your money and get dino or spend the money to get real synthetic.

I'd say synthetic blend is better then conventional, but your still better off running full-blown synthetic. I run the quaker state full synthetic 5w-30 and have for a while now, and I've been quite pleased

The key to using synthetic is that you are getting a lubricant that has a uniform molecule structure, and has none of the bad molecule chains that cannot be refined out of Mineral oil no matter what you do to it.
For instance, light molecule chains boil off at considerably low temps as low as 150 degree. This causes the oil to oxidize and thicken. Now the heavy molecule chains, for deposits like sludge and varnish.
If you are going to spend the money go with a full synthetic so you can enjoy all of the benifits, not just good start up protection that a blend would give you.
