fuel system codes
I keep getting a code p-1451 from my 97 F-150. The local dealer advised me to change the "evap canister vent soleniod", which I did. But the code returns.Has anybody gotten this problem and what was done to fix it.
scuberdiver,
What code scanner did you buy? Did you get in Canada? If so, from where and how much did it cost?
My truck is pretty much out of warranty, and I've been thinking of getting a code scanner.

obd scanner code power train 1451 " evap canister solenoid"
I keep getting the same code, a p-1451 code from my 2001 F-150 5.4 liter. I did replace the "evap canister vent solenoid" was well. I deleted the code and it the check engine light came back on, with the same code. The truck doesn't run any different then it normally did. I was just wondering if anyone new how to fix it, or if anyone had any wiring skematics for it. Please help me.

I had the same problem with my 97 4.6. I did some trouble shooting and found a broken wire from the canisters to a conector on the drivers side engine compartment. I recomend replacing the whole length of wire. I found several pin holes in the wire along the way to the front of the truck. It is common to poke holes in the wire to check for conductiving, and I figgure there was a problem from the factory and they used this method to find a problem.
good luck

Just remember that the CV solenoid is the one at the rear of the truck, not the EVAP purge valve under the hood adjacent to the green service port.
Check the CV solenoid's resistance for the proper value, replace if open. Check for VPWR at one to the CV solenoid connector pins - should be hot with ignition in RUN. Check continuity of the other connector pin back to the PCM (look up proper pin in schematic).
