Thumbs up soliciting help on a 5.4L

I posted here awhile back, and got several great responses, as I knew i would. I am working a deal on a 2000 model f150, 5.4L. I know the subject has been discussed time and again, and I did do a search, but found no definate info.
My question is concerning the faulty head gasket/block problem. Does anyone know if there was a definate mfg. date that these problems were fixed?
Also anything else I should look for before I buy this truck?

Thanks...

One good thing is that it is still under warranty and eligible for an extended warranty. Does it still have the original engine? From what I've read, (I've not seen and actual vin# or date cutoff) but there were still some 2k trucks with the problem. It wouldn't surprise me of some of the 01's would develop it as well, I hope not though. They haven't been around long enough to start the leak yet in most cases.

It is a 2000 model, with 24,000 miles. I did look for the fqr sticker on the block (i can thank this site for that) but don't think i saw it. All i saw was a sticker that said windsor canada.
