Unhappy engine oil leak

I guess all is not well at Ford. My new 2002 S'cab which was a replacement for my 2001 S'cab because of repeated engine replacements, three in two months, is now leaking OIL at 2,500 miles ! Last night replaced the the drain plug, because I changed the oil and filter at 2,000 miles, and maybe I buggered up the seal (?) and douched under engine, trans pan and oil covered cross member. Used FL820S and the factory reccomended 5W-20 motorcraft oil. Now 50 miles later I have a OIL LEAK!!!!! I do not think I can undergo another round of Ford attempting to fix another oil leak , where am I going wrong? I picked out this truck at random from the lot as it was closet to my old truck in trim and color. I guess it would not be wise for anybody to get lottery numbers from me as they will all be the wrong ones.
Hey W. C. Ford! How can you say these trucks are the best on the road????? How many fingers and toes are you crossing when you say that? What can you do for me to keep me buying any new Ford products?

When you took the old oil filter off, did you get the gasket also? Sometimes the gasket from the filter will stick to the filter mount. When you screw the new one on, it doesn't seat correctly, and will leak. Easy to overlook this since you drop the filter and bag it quick because of the mess.

funny reading above post. i have always done my own oil (motorcycles, cars, trucks) and for the first time ever that 'gasket thing' happened to me this past weekend.

filter just didnt feel right when i threaded it in. unscrewed it and ran my hand around the drain area, and low and behold, the old gasket from the filter was still there. glad i caught it then, and not later.

funny also that on my wifes honda accord i can change the oil and have enough room in there to stretch out and see everything, but on my big truck its more of a tight p.i.t.a.

Leak

Is at rear of engine maybe from rear main seal area. Have almost came close a couple of times to the old double gasket trick, but as I was coming out from under car/truck with old filter have heard a very faint noise and while inspecting old filter and noticed no gasket on filter. When I looked for the gasket on the engine realised that the noise was the gasket falling into the drain pan. What luck. About the three engines, four counting the factory orginal, and three bad remans from Ford. One a smoker the next a knocker and blew out a plug from # 2 cylinder and the third when warm sounded like a Diesel at idle.

Unhappy

Now at 4,500 miles the oil leak has come back and dripping on ground. I guess that the oil pan gasket was wrong guess. Where to now Mr. Ford, can not anybody at your plants get it "JOB ONE" when they build these things. Best truck on the road? Maybe you are trying to catch up to GM and Chrysler quality, if so you are doing a great job.

I hope your truck is fixed. My 2002 FX4 is three weeks old and getting a replacement engine for a leaking rear main.
