For the past few days, whenever I start my truck up and the engine is cold, I will drive about two miles, then if I am accelerating at about 1/4 thorttle, around 35mph the truck just stops accelerating. The rpm's and mph don't move and the truck just feels like it lost all power. It will do this for about 5 seconds then will do what seems liek a downshift and start working normally again. I have no clue what this could be. Thanks for your help. Also, the check engine light is not on.

sounds like it might be a clogged fuel filter, or maybe a clogged up cat. converter. you didn't mention the miles on your '97? dan

Fuel filter was replaced about 4000 miles ago. The truck has 115,000 miles on it and I know it was used to tow something big before I got it. It came with a electroninc brake controller.

Maybe I should just buy a lightning engine, and transmission and replace it.
