First, I had the ASP pulleys and stock fan clutch. Never had any problems overheating, even towing a 5000+lbs. Bayliner boat. Up here in AK, it never gets hotter than 80* but there's quite a few ups and downs through the mountains. I have the 2.2" radiator.

I haven't gotten the chance to tow the boat with the FAL fan. Hope to do that soon.

BigRed- Don't know about your situation. How old is the coolant? I really don't think getting a new pump will solve the problem. I think the answer is in that 1" radiator.

I was starting to think the same thing about the AC condenser, I mean radiator. Could be a good flush will help or else biting the bullet and getting the big radiator.

Ok, that makes perfect sense. But you till have to buy band aids for your knuckles. <g>

Someone in Chicago might be doing an electric fan, and want to borrow it, so at least I got that going for me.

Also dad always said, don't eat anything larger then your head, and you'll be alright. So don't eat the whole turkey...
See SSCULLY, There you go again. If you have duct tape, you don't need bandaids. Now I know the son of an electrician should know that.

Electricans don't use duct tape, it can conduct, or at the least heat up and cause a fire hazzard.

From what I have found electrical tape actually make a better band aid then scotch tape. it is flexable and usually is water proff ( 3M Super 33+ ). Don't know if duct tape is better then electrical tape. Guess the smoke em if you got em is the name of the game there

LMAO, I never thought about it that way. I guess an electrician would go for the electrical tape first.
To this day I have scares on me where I cut 6" gashes in my hands or on my arms with sheet metal and slapped duct tape on it for a few days untill the bleeding stopped....are we getting off topic here?

Yes we are, but I'll clean iot up once I post the electric Fan FAQ.
Good to know it is not me that bleeds just by lookng at it. <g>

So Underdrive pulleys :
Jupiterak : 99 F250 LD, 5.4L
BigRed2 : 99 F150 SCab,
jstang : 01 F150 SCab, 4.6L , cobra water pump.
Rocks : 97 F150 SCab, 4.6 L

Once I get a chance to site down and pull it all togehter, I'll also break out my mfgr of unit, and turn on temps.

I think that is 4 that have underdrvie pulleys with the electric fans, and only the 1 with the cobra water pump. Did I get that right ?

Chidiver, your not on this list, due to no Electric Fans, but in the FAQ I'll be using your posts as the baseline info, along with the others.

Seems like BigRed2 is the only one having a problem with the underdrive pulleys.

how about listing rad size also and if you have a trans cooler ( tow package or add on, does not matter ), and note if the trans cooler is stock or add on.
This may or may not have an impact, with the underdrive pulleys, and AC. I don't have underdrives on, but I do have the 1.1" rad and the tow package. Just curious if BigRed2's problem is due to config, or if it is a coolant problem ?? I would not expect the rad to be scaled that bad with it being that new.

SSCULLY,

I have the 1.1 radiator with an add on transmission cooler (Flex-a-lite). I flushed and filled the system over the weekend but it didn’t make much of a difference. My next course of action is to go with the 180 degree thermostat. That would put my in direct comparison to Rocks set up.

Hello BigRed,

One big difference we have is that my radiator is twice the thickness of yours. I have read a few other posts around the forums of folks having overheat problems with the thinner radiators.

SSCULLY,

On a similar but different topic, I received my auto tap today. I haven't had the chance to use it yet, but I hope to have some more accurate data for this thread.

P.S. Leave my woman alone, I saw her first.
