i am going with mobil 1 all the way on my first oil change. the best oils are supposed to be amsoil-mobil-syntec and the best filters are supposed to be amsoil-mobil- pure 1. i am going with mobil 1 oil and mobil 1 filter just because they are easy to find.
my 2 cents.

Would using Mobil 1 oil and filter invite risk of warranty hassles ? Does Mobile 1 have the same API specs as Motorcraft 5w-20 ? I have an '01 5.4 L with 16k miles. Thanks...........

After the work I did cutting apart a Motorcraft oil filter and comparing it to an "equivalent" Fram, https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000766.html , I'm sticking with observable quality I know -- Motorcraft.

Especially at the price, if you pick up your Motorcraft filters at Walmart (in the States) or some place like Pep Boys at less than $US3.00.

My third F-series ordered new. The other two: '73 F-100 Custom, 240 cube 6, 3 on the tree, tan, "West Coast" mirrors, step bumper, knitted vinyl seat, AM radio; and '98 F-150 SC short-box XL, XLS package, Pacific Green, 4.2 5-speed, 3.55 LS, FM-cassette.

GREAT trucks!

I needed to change my oil the other day and couldn't wait for an Amsoil order to come in (no dealers in my area). So I went with Mobil 1 5w30 and a Purolator Pure One. Now, I am glad I did, I had heard that the Pure one was better than most, now I know for sure (can not find a Mobil 1 filter anywhere close). I use to be a Fram fan... not anymore, my truck runs a lot better now with the new oil and filter.

Just wanted to make sure that znstr was clear on your response.

I'd bet the filter is OK. Mobil 1 oil, however, does NOT meet Ford's 2001 specifications at this time.
