Another Question of Storage
Another Question of Storage
Howdy Guys,
As always more questions from a Cherry F-150 guy.
I've been away for a few days in beautiful Okinawa Japan.
Another question comes up regarding storage of my 1997 for the last five years.
The storage people used an anti-corrosive in the fuel tank and engine. Part of their contract with the govt is to clean this stuff out and put 2 gal of fuel in for return to me. Does ANYONE know what this stuff is?
I will be providing the Battery, and the rig has been on jacks the whole time so tires should be good. The dealer said to just change the oil and leave the filter in place. (changed about 30 miles from where it went in), and then just drive her on down to get the recalls done.
Sorry to be a pain, but this is my baby THAT I JUST PAID OFF
,
and I want to do for her the best that I can.
Mike

Hi again Mike,
Well you have shed some new light now. If your truck was properly "pickled" when it was put in, you should have littel to do then. I am not sure what is used but I think you'd be fine with the recommended oil switch dealer run and service again.
The pickling would have prevented to usual deterioration issues. The tires since they were off the ground should also be fine.
That gives way more info to use than before.
Enjoy your ride.
