i once inquired on this board about this, and the return wasnt very positive. Now i have a manual trannie, so it might be different for autos (if thats what you have) but most people were saying that between the 5000 engine, i would need atleast another 5000 just to get everything to line up and replace the onboard computers and the such, and then probably another 1000-2000 to beef my tranny up to handle this power. These numbers arent very accurate, i just cant find the thread and goin by memory!

But hey, if i had the money i would diffinately look into it

Yea, I think it'd be easier to buy a built 4.6 from the aftermarket guys and put it in..

I had thought of that, (Supercharger) however my truck has 110,000 miles on it.
The truck itself is in excellent condition shiney black like the day I bought it, 5 coats meguires premium wax on it since she was a baby. I worry about the added stress on an engine with that many miles on it. Dont want to spend 3k+ for a supercharger then have the lower end drop out.My other though was getting a Nav engine/tranny and shoving that in it. Just trying to get some ideas for what to do....Probably end up just buying a built 4.6 for it.

fastmike,

If you are going to spend $$$$ for a built 4.6 why not get a 5.4? Milage should not effect the longeviety of the 4.6 if you put a blower. Is your 4.6 a Romeo or a Windsor?

Personally, I would still blow the stock motor. The engines are rated at 100k first tuneup motors -- yeah right. Anyways, beyond changing the timing chains and checking the compression, if that is all good blow the sucker!

Save the money, if the motor ever does explode, break, whatever, get a new 5.4 and stuff it under the hood or another 4.6 and use the same blower. Heck, even if you sell the truck, keep the blower, buy another 4.6 150 and mount the blower in there.

Something to think about.

buy a 4.6 cobra engine, beef up tranny, supercharger... done

4.6 cobra... $5k
Beefy tranny $2k
Supercharger $4k

then you'll be pushing ~440hp!!!, thats more than a lightning motor!...
rough estimates...
