No WOT, I can't give up that 1-2 tire chirp.

I plan on replacing the EGR - it's about time and probably has a lot of carbon build up. The coil packs from AutoZone are $54. It will cost me $80 minimum to do the computer diagnosis at a shop. Maybe I will have them tested for resistance.

Right now, however, it is going in to have the rear bumper and cover replaced because I was rearended. As they say when it rains it pours.....

Before you start randomly replacing parts, check for carbon in the EGR port of the intake throttle body elbow. The EGR valve is probably fine. Pull out the elbow and spray some carb/intake cleaner through the port. The only gasket you "might" need is the one for the EGR valve to elbow and don't drop any of the screws.

Also, I just talked to a mechanic today and he said spark plug boots on higher mileage Tritons (w/coil-packs) start to get cracks in them where they go onto the porcelain of the plug and they short out to the wall of the plug well.

Found this thread while searching for fuel pump problems. I thought I too had a bad fuel pump. Driving down the interstate the other day I lost any ability to accelerate. I was cruising along when all of a sudden the tach went from about 2500 to 4000+.

I pulled off on the next exit and after the light turned green I took off only able to get up to 30-35 mph top speed. I revved it up, it revved no problem. After about a mile it finally began running right all the way home. This happened Wednesday. Yesterday I had no problem with it. I also got the Check Engine Light while it was doing this and quickly hooked up my OBD II scanner..........no code came up.

This morning I got up for work, went to start the truck. It would crank but would not fire. I figured it was the pump or filter. So I came on here to see if anyone else had any similar problems. Came across this topic which game me a couple of good ideas. I checked the fuel shutoff switch first, it was off. So since I also have a Superchip I decided to pull it. Truck started right up. So now I guess I'll need to clean it up really good before I put it back in. I've had this trouble before but it would always go away, now I know how to fix it. Thanks fellas, even though you were helping someone else you were bale to fix my problem.
