I had considered a trade for a 2001 SuperCrew but hated to "start over" with payments....too close to gettin' her paid for !! If the repair with the "upgraded" head gasket doesn't lick it then I may re-consider the new truck option. Other than the leak, I'm really very satisfied with the truck. Oh well.....

You guys almost make me scared of my truck with all the problems you list. I guess it's like the story goes " You hardly ever hear good news, you only hear the bad". I have an early production 97 and have yet had major problems, thank god and knocking on my paticle board wood computer desk. I just detailed the engine last weak and everything seemed to be in tip top shape. I hope it stays that way since I bought the truck used with 86k on it and the ext. warranty I bought is now long gone too.

I could let em' go, but it seems like their was a metal bar that bolted from the truck, to the flap, and for some reason, I couldn't get it removed from teh truck? I'll check into it, and check their condition, as I don't remember if they had to be removed with brute force or not. I'll post here probably tomorrow man.

Anyway, I got a call lastnight from the dealer. He said that they had just finished the truck, and I could pick it up today!!! Keeping my fingers crossed. I'll report in tomorrow, or later today. Also gonna get my '01 "L" tails installed this evening...can't wait!!! Maybe the HD grill is next?

Did anyone of you check with your Dealer
FORD WILL REPLACE ENGNES (4.6) for leaking head gaskets....They will only repair for the older vehicles

 

They just replaced my 4.6 for a leaking head gasket after replaceing the head gasket once. When I went back the second time they called Ford & was told to replace the motor.

Sorry, haven't had the time to check on the flaps.

Got the truck, it was OK, had to "correct" a few things...put in my '01 L headlights...AWESOME!!! Took it back this morning because they don't feel it necessary to use 5W20. After changing the oil again today, they left teh filter off, and fired it up. Blew oil everywhere...they cleaned it, I cleaned it, everythings OK. Will check in later when time allows. Is Ford swapping them 100% for sure? Am I better off now, or with a swap? Thanks guys!!!
