Question oil cap

2001 f150 XLT 4.6L 4WD
Will the oil weight specification
(ie.. 5w20) be printed on the oil
fill cap? or will it just say "OIL FILL"
Thanks

I checked a 01 F-150 supercrew on my lot and do's say SAE 5-20 on the oil fill cap, it is my understanding that all 01 trucks with a v8 is 5-20 but to make sure you should check you owners manual. I'm not sure about v6's we haven't sold one.

Wink

I would have bet money that my oil cap
used to say 5W20 in yellow letters.
Just had an oil change done, and they put
in 5W30, not that it means a lot, But on
other oil changes they put in 5W20 and charged
me more for it. So when I pickup my truck,
the invoice says "5W30", and I say the spec, is for 5W20, and that I read it on the cap!
We open the hood, and the cap says "OIL FILL"
only! did I loose my original cap?
Is it my memory, or did the cap get replaced?
Thanks,
Brian

My truck is a 2001 F150 2wd XLT Sport SuperCab with the 5.4.

The oil fill cap has a yellow circle around the edge. Inside the circle it says SAE 5W-20 and has the drawing of the oil can symbol.

Angry

Thanks for the verification!
As an engineer, I notice things like this.
Now why would my dealer swap the cap out on me, then lie about it?
It's not the difference in the oil that concerns me, but I like to leave with the same parts that I came with.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks again,
Brian

for this vehical? I would like to go back to my local dealer, and get my parts back.
