Unhappy Door Cracks

I know this has probably been beaten to death but im curious to know if anyone has been able to get ford to pay for the door crack problem? I contacted them today and the CSR told me that there hasnt been enough calls about door cracks and that nothing was being done about it. I went to my local ford dealer today and looked at some used f150s and 3 out of the 4 had door cracks.
Can anyone give me anymore info on whether or not I may be able to get ford to fix this?

Thanx

door cracks

Are you talking about the cracks in the door just outside the bottom corner of the window on the side closest to the handle ?

I had to have a door repainted when I got hit, and the body shop welded that spot ..... no problems since with that door, but the other one is just as bad !

Good luck with the dealership or Ford .... they never want to fix any body problems for free !!!!!

I think there was a TSB issued for the door cracks. Might try searching the forums (using the search) to see what you can find.

I was able to get Ford to pay to fix mine. I was two days from bringing it into the bodyshop when my Mustang started having problems and had to cancel the repair on the truck. I didn't reschedule because I started to become concerned that having the door repaired and repainted might be worse than the 1/4" crack.

TSB's

I have a 1997 that has been in storage for 5 yrs, and have looked up all the TSB's for it since I got a 7 yr warranty for it.
Out of the 616 issued for my year, there are 7 that have to do with door cracks. Here is just a sample:

Service Bulletin Number: 98-4717
Bulletin Sequence Number: 712
Date of Bulletin: 09/98N
HTSA Item Number: 607127
Component: STRUCTUREOOR ASSEMBLY
Summary: VEHICLES EXHIBIT CRACKS IN DOOR SHEET METAL AT LOWER REAR OF THE WINDOW OPENING NEAR BELT MOLDING. *AK
The other TSB's have to do with other places on the door.
Hope this helps and good luck with your dealer.
Mike
