advantages of EFI over carb?
what are some advantages of fuel injection over carburation? my truck (not a daily driver) might get a new engine (5.8L) in about a year and i was wondering if i should keep the efi, or if i should slap in a 4 barrel carb? suggestions? opinions? any input is appreciated, thanks!

Well, I had an '87 with the 5.8L and let me tell you, it SUCKED gas. No, let me restate that. It GUZZLED gas. It GUZZLED it and spit it out.
I can think of only two reasons to go with a carb. The EFI is shot and will cost too much to repair and/or you want to put a huge carb on it to get more power.
I have a feeling that you'll also need a different intake manifold, air cleaner, throttle linkage, and not sure if the tranny is computer controlled on your truck or not, but I'm guessing you'll need some kind of linkage to the tranny for downshifts (kickdown?) if it's an automatic.
The worst part of going with a carb is you may not be able to pass an emissions test if that's required where you are.
I dunno. I think sticking with the stock EFI would be a lot easier.
