As a proud owner of a 2004 Toyota Tundra Double Cab, I was wanting to post a reply but noticed that the thread stopped in 2001. I am assuming that many of the participants were owners of 2001 F150 pickups so given the crash test results of the 2001 F150 I am assuming you are all dead or in vegitative states. The cab of the 2001 F150 was totally destroyed while the cab of the same model Tundra was virtually unscathed. You could still open the doors. Now I do know that the F150 has improved dramatically since then but the Toyota is still a better truck. When the F150 is pushing up daisies in the local junk yard, the Tundra will still have many miles left to drive and will still look like a new truck.

Thanks for your reply Tundra owner. My son is a service advisor at Toyota. He drives a Honda and a 5.0 Mustang. He has seen plenty of Tundra piston slaps, paint peeling of the hoods and roofs, brakes and rotors gone bad in 6 months oxy. sensors gone one after another and another, etc, etc. Need I gone on. Buddy, there is no truck out there thats half decent. If there was one, thats the one I would be driving. Look around at some sites or better still, talk to people. You will be quite surprised.

Can't help myself. Has anyone been interested enough to read about the Tundra brake problems? Once the truck is beyond 3/36 then you the owner get to fix the problem. Want to guess how much the Toyota brake fix problem costs? I could not believe it - averages $2,000. It is truly a very poorly designed brake system and Toyota has a fix for it, guess who pays.

Frankly, I think Ford does better than this. And I'll be the first to say they are no longer great at standing behind their products. But, I see signs of improvement in the Ford camp. Maybe there is hope here yet. I don't think I'll rush out and buy a Tundra just yet although I have looked at it. Not impressed by much of anything with that truck if you want to call it a truck.

 

Much thanks for the oil filter info. Found it very interesting. I'm gonna try AMSOIL filters and see how they do. $10.00 or even $12.00 bucks a filter is cheap insurance against engine wear. Thanks again.
