Post Gears?

I see everyone making reference to different gear ratios. eg 3.08 3.55 3.73 What's the difference and what does this affect. I also wanna know which would be best if all I wanted was speed.

basically the lower the number the higher the gear ratio which inturn means slower acceleration. if you want speed go for something like 3.73 to 4.10 gears if you feel like paying about $500 per axle. the lower gears will give you better accelaration to whatever speed you want but your top end will get lower with the lower gears. just talk with a mechanic you trust and see which would be best for you. i have a 97 F-150 4x4 offroad with 4" suspension lift and 35" tires so nest week i am putting in 4.56 gears so i can push those big tires with out over working my engine and transmission.

How Limited Slip. I know what it is but what does it entail to have it added after market. That and a sliding rear is the only thing I miss from my old truck. Anyone know what it would cost? I have 3.55 reg now.

Cool

biggins- You replace the differential in your rear-end. Diff costs approx. $400 plus install; another $300-$400..
