Ford leaves the fluids a little low when they ship from the factory. 1 pint of diff fluid accross a million trucks is $$$$$$$$. The dealer is supposed to check and top off all fluids as part of the new car prep, Ford (you) pay for. Normaly it doesn't happen. I found all fluids on my 99 PSD a little low.

Cool

I checked mine when it was brand new; 1 pt. or so low. The dealer check missed this, but they made up for it by wiping grease all over the steering wheel and inner door.

Question

I have an 01 with 9,800 mi. Should I have my fluid levels checked? I know if I tell my service dept. that they all ship low, they'll tell me I'm crazy, or it doesn't matter. Not only that, how in teh hell would I get it covered under warrenty?

On top of page 262 of my 2001 F150 owner's guide, it says to fill " the axle 6-14 mm (1/4- 9/16 inch) below the bottom of the filler hole"...... This referred to 8.8 " and 9.75 axles. A few months ago at about 8k miles, I checked my level and it was 3/4 "
