Denso's

In my opinion the "best" are Denso Iridiums, yes they are expensive but personally I will never run a different plug. If your not looking to spend that much ($100) the NGK and bosch platinums are good plugs.

I tried some Autolite Platinum Pro's and probably got a bad plug... had a slight misfire. Yanked them and slapped some Champion Truck Plugs in for half the price of the Autolites. Runs good.

I did the research and got burned by the Autolites.

Just make sure you put antiseize on the threads and silicone goop in the wire boots.

So far no rave reviews of the Platinum +4's so they seem a waste of money.

I'm glad you brought this up. In my mind, this plug is nothing but pure marketing. Electricity will allways take the path of least resistance, it doesn't matter how many prongs you have, only one of them is doing the work. Now, maybe they work well, I don't know, but you aren't getting four sparks. Splitfire got sued over this years ago and had to change their advertising.

My 98 was running very poorly, missing, Check Engine light came on one time and no power. I put in Champion Truck plugs and it runs like new.
I have a 4.6.

consistant performance...

I have used Bosch Platnum for years in all my vehicles and have never had a problem.

You can spend top dollar for all kinds of stuff in the world, (even 100 bucks for spark plugs), but do you really need to???

If you race etc yeah maybe, but I always look for value. i.e what is the best quality product for the most reasonable price.

I gotta say that the +4's really are great. As CoolHandLuke pointed out, yes, electricity always takes the path of least resistance. However, it is for that reason that these plugs work better. The 4 prongs allow for a better reach at the fuel/air mixture. The area where the fuel is most abundant will tend to spark first, allowing for a more complete burn. It might not spark on all 4 prongs, but it will spark where the most fuel is. I think they're great... Just my $.02

I really do not like Bosch but we do sell them at work. No telling how many sets I have had to return under warranty due to poor running and misfires. It seems to happen the most on older engines (250's, 302's, etc) and carb'd vehicles.
I personally am running the Motorcraft double platinums. I know the truck runs well on them and found them for 4 bucks apiece (vs $10 each at a dealer). I would like to have the Denso Iridium's but didn't have the money nor the time for them to be shipped in.
How do the NGK Iridiums or platinums or whatever the top NGK is stack up against the Denso's?

IMO
Motorcraft- good
Champion- OK in some Dodges and the old tractor
Autolite- fair
Bosch- junk
NGK- great (only thing to run in a two-stroke)
Denso-great
AC Delco- good
Accel- decent
