K&N Cleaning & MAS filiment?
I initially installed the K&N AirFilter into
the 'stock' 4.6 air intake... it has about
43000 on it (about to install my new AirAid)
and wonder what is the best way to clean
the K&N that I'll store away?
Second question: what is the consensus on
spraying 'electric' circuitry cleaner (self
evaporating, fast) as a cleaner for the
MAS sensors filiment???
Thanks greatly.

I cleaned mine at 12k (I've been offroading, hunting, and the pollen is really bad down heah).
Get a K&N recharge/clean kit. Pull out the filter and brush and tap off as much crud as you can from the outside. I used a dry paintbrush. Then, spray the K&N cleaner all over it until it is really soaked & dripping and let it sit for a half hour or so on some newspaper. Then take it to the kitchen sink and rinse it thoroughly with hot water and spray it inside-out a lot with the hand sprayer. I also soaked it in some hot Dawn dish suds before rinsing. Let it dry overnight with a fan on it. When totally dry, re-oil it with the red K&N oil from the kit (I used a bit too much, so I left the filter on some paper towels and wadded up one and crammed it inside to soak up the excess oil). Then re-install it. No problems with oil on the MAF sensor. Everything runs as before, but the idle seems much smoother now than the usual smooth, like a turbine almost.
Regarding the MAF sensor, you don't want to use an alcohol-based flux remover or silicon tuner cleaner spray, oh no. I suggest you only use the trichloroethane brake cleaner spray on it (the bad stuff), or Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber spray from Wallymart (sporting goods). Don't get it on anything but the exposed wire.

Doc- You can skip the re-oiling if you are "storing" it; do use the K&N cleaner. You can clean the MAF element with Windex on a Q-tip.
