Any way to turn off the antilocks?
Sorry to post here in the engine forum, but it gets way more traffic than the brakes forum. I for one can't stand the antilocks while offroad. An example, trying to climb a slippery hill. Tried to ease up, no go. try the brute force approach, with 30-40 MPH indicated wheelspeed (4W high, 1st gear), get a little further, finally the forward motion stops. I get off the gas and on the brake (not overly hard) to keep from sliding back, hopefully (didn't work- really slick). Anyway, the instant I hit tapped the brakes, the wheels stopped, and the ABS totally freaked out, thinking I was still moving 20 MPH or so. Stuff like this happens all the time. I drive a lot in loose sand, and the ABS hates it, too. It would be really nice to be able to just flip a switch and turn them off, and revert to good old fashioned brakes.

I know what you mean about the ABS freaking out in mud or deep snow when you are letting the wheels all spin to maintain momentum. My wife thought all hell was breaking loose when the ABS started hammering away when we were stopped and the rear wheels were still spinning.
I was thinking you could find the ABS fuse in the fuse box, and then splice a cab-mounted switch into that wire. That would be very helpful for mud, snow, and slow 4-wheeling in general. Just an idea - try it at your own risk!
