Question ABS System

Is there a way to tell if you have 2 or 4 wheel ABS without looking underneath the truck??

The easiest way to determine if you have 4 wheel ABS is to do a panic stop.

When the ABS is working, you'll hear something like a reciprocating pump coming from under the dash area. That's the ABS in the engine compartment pulsing the brakes.

If you're feeling pulsing in the brake pedal when braking under non-panic conditions, you have a warped brake rotor.

The 97 and 98 XL and XLT models had standard REAR only ABS. The Lariat came with 4W ABS standard. There was an option to order 4W ABS on the XL and XLT models.
