Electric Fan
I read on the post that alot of people use the Flex-A-Lite Model 250 or 260 in there trucks, but I do very little towing at the most 1200 lbs. And about 80-90% of my driving is on the freeway at 65-75 mph. Do you think I could use a fan setup (16") that pulls in around 2000 cfm's instead of the Flex-A-Lite Models. Also what temp, should I set the fan to engage?
I have a #260 on order from Summit. I also talked to a Flex-a-lite tech and they highly recommended a dual fan setup (#250 or #260). They both have adjustable thermostats, and I believe most users have them set around 180-200 degrees. IMHO, I think a dual fan would be beneficial for the extra security in case one ever fails.

IMHO, the best $ for $ electric fan on the market is the OEM Ford unit used on police package LTD's, Mustangs and Continental Mark VIII's. They are avail able new for about $150 (from rumors) or from a salvage yard for $65. All you have to buy is an adjustible thermostat at Pep Boys and your set. The amount of air these fans flow is incredible, far above aftermarket units unless you go high $$.

I went with the Flexalite 250, before the 260 for F's came out. It ain't cheap, at ~4 bills, but when a single electric fan dies, you're on the side of the road and f*cked til its' towed and replaced. To me, I'd rather pay up front than later.

the electric fan will not kick on while you are driving above 30mph or so. You have enough air flow to sufficiently cool the motor. Granted this is if you have the cooling system up to par -- ie the thermostat is working.
It is when you slow and stop and go that the electric fan will kick in.
Now if you have AC, that turns on the fan with the override switch, but different story.
So as long as you keep your speed, you will not have cooling problems!
