Need Help with Next Mod...
Ok I have $1400 to spend on Modifications to My 4.2L Any Ideas???? What do you guys(gals) think would kick some V8 butt?
Here is my current List...
1)K&N Filter, stock airbox
2)Exhaust
3)4.30 Gears w/Auburn Pro
Here is what I did at the Track, First time racing with a 5-speed. But No way was this my first time at the track.
16.926 @ 78.46 60'ft was 2.381
16.994 @ 78.98 60'ft was 2.425
Haven't figured out how to launch the truck yet, came out at an idle and don't know what the shift points should be, I am shifting by sound cause I don't even have a tach. Still learning how to drive this 5-speed, all my cars have been automatics. But I'm a quick learner. What do you launch at? What kind of 60's do you get?
Thanks

hdeck,
If you are serious about racing the first thing to do is get a tach. You will never be consistant with out it. On launching the truck the two things to avoid are wheel spin and bogging the engine. You can't fix these unless you know the launch rpm that causes them. Your ear can be off from day to day but the tach will not. 4.30 gears will make your 1st gear useless unless you get taller tires. Taller tires rob power. I would not go lower than 4.10s. Chip, intake mod, headers, tires then Gears is the order I would go in. That should take care of your $1400.00 real quick.

No My current List is what I currently have on the truck. I already have the gears and I'm running 31's. The truck is great, and I run 1st gear all the way up to 25-30mph depending on whether or not I feel like spinning the tires in 2nd.
