Thumbs up

I believe your diagnosis is correct. A leaking heater core is most likely your source of leakage. I'm not sure on the F150 how difficult it is but I have never changed one I enjoyed doing.

In order to get to the heater core on the new body style f-150's you have to remove the dash. No small task.

I haven't seen any web sites with how to info on heater cores. I just took a quick look in my 2001 manual.

You might want to check out Ebay. There are usually a number of factory service manual CD's up for bid. I got my '01 CD for $35. Sure beats paying $600 in labor if the job is something you could do yourself.

Unhappy

Nintyseven-

Had my heater core replaced when she was only 1 month old....Expect it to take a minimum of 2 days. They must pull the ENTIRE dash out to get to the heater core. If you can, make sure you watch over thier shoulder, I still find loose dash screws, but thankfully have no real rattles.

When they pull out the dash, all you see is the firewall....If you model year is able to have the heater/air cleaner, have them install it too (for $60 in parts) it is worth it.

Red face

SHARK99,
i know you must have been upset.Did ford do the work?did the warrenty
stll apply?
I try my hardest not to
bring my truck to the dealer if i can help it.
only if they took pride in their workmanship?then that would be another story.
thats why i choose to do the job myself.it took about 5 hours to diss. the whole dash/pull heatercore out.
ordered the parts at local dealer today they
should be in on tuesday!
i will look into in other related parts in that area that show wear and replace.
what a nightmare!!!!!!
I hope i dont bump my head between today and
tuesday :> )

THANKS AGAIN
NINETYSEVEN
