I have 99 F150 and was rear ended, about a month later the fuel pump went out just before I took it in for the body work. I was wondering if the accident could of caused the fuel pump to fail or if they will fail afer only 40K miles.

 

Did you have to reset your fuel shut off swithch? It really shouldn't of caused the fuel pump to go out. I heard if you run your gas down low a lot, that this overheats the fuel pump. If you run your fuel down to a low leven a lot, this could have made the pump fail prematurly.
