Engine Miss/Dies
I am a new poster to the board though I have been reading it for over a year, even before buying my truck used. I have a 97 F150 S/C 4x4 ORP with the 5.4 engine that I have now owned for 8 months. Recently, the engine has begun misfiring on occasion and will even die while driving down the road (not real pleasant experience on the highway). The problem seems to happen after it has warmed up and maybe coincindently, after or while going over rough roads (many here in PR). My neighbor, who is a mechanic, has indicated to me that there are no codes being generated, since he took care of the infamous EGR Insufficient Flow associated with the carbon buid up and suspects that the computer may be suffering a slow death. Has anybody experienced a similiar problem? Any input would be helpful. This is just one of the minor problems that I am trying to take care of on my truck in my attempt to bring it back to the condition that it deserves.
