1401 Engine Code
I need to know what a 1401 Powertrain Code is. I replaced the plugs on my 97 F150 with a 4.6L. Six starts later the "Check Engine" Light came on. I cleared it by disconnecting the battery. It lasted for about 20 starts until it came on again. I bought an Actron reader and it is showing the 1401 code. The Actron manual stops at 0800.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

P1401-DPFE sensor voltage too high.
Could be sensor, wiring or PCM. (small three wire sensor with two tubes coming out of it connected to the EGR feed tube, marked with an engineering number like XXXX-9J460-XX) It it PROBABLY the sensor. Very failure prone piece.
The reason your "scanner" doesn't have the codes over P1000 is that P1XXX codes are manufacturer/MY specific, and it would cost them a buncha dough to sell you the codes beyond that.

Thanks for the response. I did find a Web site that has all the Scan Codes for all makers the url is www.obdii.com. Just remember to put a P (Powertrain) in front of the number when doing a lookup for code. The PCM is also now posting a 402 which is EGR Excessive Flow. Based on a search of the archives here and your response I going to go get a new DPFE.
Thanks again

Thanks again

The DPFE sensor will most likely fix your problem, we have a lot of problems with them. You are getting different egr related codes, sounds like the DPFE is is erratic and sending the wrong voltages to the PCM setting a light. We are constantly replacing these sensors for egr codes. Good Luck.
