Question

You could show them some of the many positive reviews that every publication generally has given this vehicle for years.

ignorance is bliss . how much exactly do they know about the truck to put it down like that? you say your fiance did not like it, she doesnt like trucks overall or just yours? did you consult it with her before buying the truck? maybe you could do some cosmetic mods or something. like max said, show them all the positive publications. im sorry i couldn't be of much help, but if someone ever told me "i thought u were smarter than to buy ford", id run their car over.

I know what you are going through, and the frustration you are experiencing. I drove BMW's for 10 years before moving to my 1998 F150 flareside. I heard the same foolish comments. The reality is, I pay for it, I drive it, I will drive what I want to drive. My wife constantly says she wishes she felt about her vehicle the way I feel about my truck. I refer to it as my Lincoln with 4WD. The ride is superb. It handles beautifully. And there are very places I can't go. My son and I hunt all winter, so it comes in real handy for that interest.

I have a 17' Nitro bassboat and the truck pulls that boat beautifully. Let your fiance drive the truck some and I think she will change her mind, however, if she is down on trucks in general, I say good luck.

The others have given good advice regarding the track record this truck has.

Good Luck and let us all know what the turning was/is for all concerned in liking the vehicle.

Keep the truck and dump the in-laws. I told my wife I would wash her every week if she made me feel as good about myself as this truck does. Hey, wait a minute ...

I agree with WoodScrew. Dump the inlaws. What a moronic comment to make about a vehicle......ANY vehicle! You made your first tactical error in not consulting your fiance before purchase. Now that the deed is done, you need sterner measures. First, learn a few expressions like: "I wanted REAL transportation, so naturally I bought a Ford Truck!" and "Love you (insert names here). But I made a decision. You'll have to live with it. I am." or "Love you (insert names here). But I don't recall asking your advice. Thanks anyway". Ask them what they towed their boat with. Or, conversely, be seen walking around the boat, looking as though your thinking REAL HARD. When they ask what you're doing, tell them: "You know. It's very thoughtful of you to offer this boat. But after buying my new truck, I don't think I want anyone to see me towing this POS". But you'll need some backbone for that one, bsolem.
Sorry. Sorry. I just couldn't resist. Seriously though, no good is going to come out of this situation. The only person whose opinion really matters is your fiance. If the inlaws don't like your truck, that's just too damm bad. If you fiance is siding with Mummi and Da-Da, you not only have your hands full, but the rest of your married life is plain to see in this one little situation. Good luck.

Brian,

I have been a truck owner my whole life, but they have all been smaller trucks. I was a little leary about getting a full size 4x4. My wife is pretty small and she has driven cars her whole life. I didn't want to buy a vehicle she couldn't or didn't want to drive. So after about 3 weeks of research and begging (My wife) I purchased a 1998 F250 LD extended cab with a third door 4x4.
I'v owned it for about 2 months and after my wife gave it a chance she actually likes it better then driving her car. She actually said it was an easier drive than her car. so hang in there and I hope your wife will give it a chance. From experience this truck has been better then what we both thought we were getting into.

Robby
