Exclamation V8 or V6

I'm in the market for a new truck and wondering for the F-150's if i should get a V6 or a V8... i really want the acceleration and hard power of an 8 but it's not that much difference between the 6 with 203 or 202 and the 8 with 230 horses? Anyone got ideas on this one? Thanks!
One last thing how is the gas milleage on both engines???

I have heard the 4.2L is not too bad. I have the 4.6L in my SuperCab and I really wish I had the 5.4L My wife has an Expy with the 5.4L and I can say that it is significantly stronger. In fact, it kinda puts you back in the seat a little bit. Has pretty good take off power. My opinion is this...V6 is for Rangers and small trucks. V8 for the bit boy toys.

If you want accelaration get the 5.4L 260hp and 350lbsft torque the most powerful engine. Next choice 4.6L 231Hp 290lbsft. The 4.6L gets better gas mileage and also has a lot of power but lacks low end torque. don't get the v6 you might regret it and end up paying more in mods than for the option of v8s 750 option for 4.6L and 1500 dollar option with 5.4L. Also with 5.4L you have to pay 1000 for automatic trans since there is no manual. The 4.6L will come with manual standard. good luck

The only way you'll know for sure is to drive the 4.2L version and the 4.6L version of the same truck.

A lot of people are satisfied with their V6 engines on this board, so it can't be all that bad.

If you're on a budget, the V6 will definitely save you money up front and down the road. A friend of mine has a '98 with the 4.2L in a 4x2 SC. He drives 100 miles a day and loves it.

Don't get the v6 for gas millage, it's not that different than the 4.6 v8.
