Question check engine light

Hey i know that there is another post on this already or there used to be but i couldnt find it so i thought i would see if yall could help. I cut the cats off of my truck and the check engine light stays on and im not for sure but i think that it is causing the truck to lose a little power but anyways my question is about the wiring plug thing that they make to trick your computer into thinking there is nothing wrong. I need to know where i can get some of these and stuff. So if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

As far as I've heard , they do get around the problem you're having..

I too cut off the CATS on my 97 5.4 (I left the smaller ones on), and I too had the check engine light come on. You need to let the computer reset itself so make sure you unplug the negative side of the battery for about 10 minutes and then re-attach. This should fix your problem. My check engine light came on again about a month ago and then went off on it's own.

As for loss of power..........I may have loss some low end torque, but I drive my truck like a little ole lady. I keep my foot out of it. My daughter always ask why I'm driving so slow.
