pi heads
pi heads
has anyone put the pi heads on there 97 or 98 truck? i have a 98 and it would be nice to have the extra power from the pi heads i have no idea what it would cost to get them though if it isnt too difficult to change out i could to scope out the junk yard i guess and see if anyone has wrecked a 99 or newer. anyways what all is involved does anything else have to be changed out such as the intake manifold or timing gears. I just posted about installing the gt heads off of the mustang but it seems that the cams in the mustang dont have larger lobes so I would prob see the same power gains with the pi heads from a f-150 and with less work most likely anyways any info would be appreciated.
Neal never made the swap... he already had the PI heads... Is what neal did is Port and Polish the heads... did lots of head work that got him about 30-50 ponies with his cam.
he will not admit to this at all.

HI!... Guys, I still have bone stock heads and cams. If you guys would like to pay the $4000.00(CAN) for me to get different cams and a full port/polish job done on my other set of "P.I" heads, then I'll do it. Currently it's on my MODS TO DO list but just don't have the funds for it right now.
I am starting this project right now and I picked up a set of 2000 Lightning heads and cams. So far I have installed oversize stainless valves, new rockers and lifters, and new HP valve springs. I am going to put these on my stock block right now but they will be going on a built short block later. For a few more pictures of the chamber work on these heads you can go to my album listed at the bottom of my signature. I will do a thread on all this over on the Supercharger topic as the project continues.

Note the chamber work on the heads. The intake and exhasust runners are also being worked as well as the supercharger intake being port matched to the PI heads.

HI!... FLATSMAN : I'm not trying to "FLAME" you at all, but you do realize that the "99" and up "P.I" heads and the LIGHTNING "P.I" heads are exactly the same. The cams are the same also. Same lift, duration and overlap. There is NO benefit with the "L" heads compared to the regular "P.I" heads.

Hey Neal, I thought the Lightning cam was a different part number but You are probably right cause you have played with this more than I have. I am thinking of changing cams anyway. I have seen some pretty serious dyno numbers with these same heads on a 2001 Saleen with long tubes, forged short block, Cobra crank and custom ground cams running an ATI with 12 lbs of boost!
