Question Known issue w/ bad oil pres. sensor?

I've read some posts recently about the oil pressure sensor. Is the gauge a dummy? It reads the same all the time. I noticed in the chevy it moves like it should. What's up? Anyone know?

the gauge is a dummy, dont know about a bad sensor, though. supposedly if pressure is over 4 psi, the gauge reads at about 2/3, otherwise it reads zero. thats all from memory so somebody correct me if i'm wrong

The Ford oil pressure gauge is connected to an oil pressure switch--not an oil pressure sender--like on most cars. The switch is closed when the oil pressure is 6 PSI or more. And the switch is open--when there is less then 6 PSI--that is why the indicated oil pressure doesnt change in Fords. Most true oil pressure gauges will show less oil pressure when the oil temperature is hot and the engine is at low RPM--and more pressure when the oil is cold and the RPM is high. But because Fords have a switch instead of a true oil pressure sensor/sender--Fords dont show the true changes of oil pressure. Too bad.

My Jeeps have true factory oil pressure gauges and will show true oil pressure under all conditions--and I would love it if my Mustang would do the same.
