Who is trouble free and happy?

Lots of posts here about people with multiple problems with their F150's.

What I want to know is, who is trouble free and happy with their F150?

I have a 2002 XLT 4.2L and it only has 4K miles on it so it's perfect. Are the problem trucks from a vocal minority rightfully, looking for help?

Or is trouble what most of us Ford owners can expect before our loans are paid off?

Gray-ghost,

I have had my Supercrew for 25 months and it now has 20,100 trouble free miles. No piston slap, rough idle, no oil leak. I think most F150's are damn good trucks. Remember Ford sells almost a million of these each year and some will have problems. The post's on this site are what we all need to hear to keep up with the common problems and help each other find a fix if we can. All in all I think most will agree the F150 is the BEST built truck on the road today.

So far so good. 2001 150 Super Crew 5.4L 4x4. 6600 miles. Only one minor problem. A pin in the connector for the left rear door power lock slid out of place when they assembled the truck at the factory. The power door lock on that door didn't work. A quick 10 minute fix and I was out the door.

So far, I'm very pleased with it.

98 F150 4x4 XLT S/C, 4.6L auto.

I've had door cracks fixed (while in bodyshop for accident damage) and one plug/wire replaced, new optima red top battery last week (OE suddenly expired).

Almost 90k kms or 55k miles.

I'm happy with it.

Stock except for stereo, canopy, k&n air/oil filters, mobil1 synth 5w30 every 5-6k kms, tint, alarm, clear corners, 275/17 ATS rubber.

:D

'01 F150, Std. cab, 4.2L auto - 23K miles
No performance problems - only one thing I noticed was two small rust spots under the radiator support. I think water sits there after washing or rain. All in all, I very happy with the truck.

I have a door crack. I have enough confidence in this truck to bolt a hundred hp into it. I am very pleased.
I understand that problems could pop up but I try to be prepaired. The stuff I've done could create a problem, so I figure I'm with this truck for the long haul. Good or bad.
I am the second owner. I bought this truck with 15K. It now has 31K. Still runs (VERY!) strong.
Happy? Yes, I'm happy.

I think your question is best served by asking who has high mileage on their trucks and is happy and trouble free. Trouble free and happy hum.... Well, that seems a relative term.

My 99 with 90,000 is a leaker slapper and yes doors are cracked. Would I buy another Ford F150 ? more then likely yes.

Only time and mileage on your truck will be your true test. Good luck with yours.

2000 f150 lariat 4.6

25,000km and running quite nicley, besides the lack of 4.6 power but we cant win em all.

41500 miles and going strong! Only had to bring it to the dealer to have some fading window molding replaced and a hitch recal done (replaced the bolts but I replaced the hitch :D).

So confident, we're taking a 300 mile one way trip loaded. Including the boat that'll weigh in at about 7500 pounds by the time we leave.

I've done all the maintenance myself and replaced and or modified a piece or 2. :D

95,000 miles on mine, no problems yet except for the door cracks. i plan on keeping this pickup for years to come

No Problems!

I have 35,000 miles on my 1998 truck. Since I have owned it I have not had any problems once so ever! I figure if I have to put in 1000 bucks a year to keep it maintained then its a really reliable truck! I actually havent even had to put that kind of money into my truck since I have owned it. I have another 3 years of an extended warantee and I hope it keeps riding FORD TOUGH!

'97 Ext cab, SB, 4.6L V8, auto. 105000 mi.
I have a door crack on the driver side only and the alternator died at around 90000 mi. And that's it.

17,000 miles on my truck, and no problems whatsoever. I could'nt be more pleased with it.

Norm Jun 11, 2002 09:48 AM

24000 trouble free miles. I do have the bad oil pressure sensor but when I have time to get to the dealer he will replace it no charge. It is a known issue.
