Changing Air Filter

I bought a stock replacement air filter for an '01 5.4 and thought I could change it within a few minutes before leaving on a trip. But, I was unable to remove it quickly. What is the correct way to replace this filter? Thanks,

Well - on both of mine, it was as simple as undoing the retaining clamp that holds the two halves of the airbox together, pull the rear part up and out of the way, then reach in and pull out the stock filter. When you put in the replacement, I think there is an alignment mark on it to orient it properly before fastening the parts together again.

Yeah mine is a 4.6 but I think the intake is the same . . . under a 1 minute job.

Undo the clamp holding the two pieces together, push the piece on the left (doesn't hold the filter) up towards the cab and remove the filter. Reverse to put new one in and voila! It can be a little tougher if you try and push that piece on the left to the front of the truck . . . you run into some clearance problems trying to get the filter out.

In South Texas he may give up a little umph in the Summer with a FIPK due to the heat!
