MAF sensor cleaning

MAF sensor cleaning

can someone refresh my memory as to how to clean it safely? i've heard a touch of windex on a cotton swab...etc. whats best?

get some electronics cleaner and just spray it. I would not use cotton.

I use electronic cleaner. Works fine.

If it's a 97 or newer F150 with the 4.6 or 5.4 it's in the air filter housing. Look at the bottom of the air cleaner housing and you will see a large round type connector going into it. Up from that in the corrageted tube is the IAT.

how often?

well i just finished a couple of weeks ago cleaning my K&N filter and i just wanted to make sure i cleaned off any oil from the filter that may have been drawn off. preventative maintenace; my specialty. (i run a 1036 apartment complex in north dallas,yes everything is big in texas)

Windex or any ammonia based window cleaner on a q-tip works good too. Just be gentle.

I just cleaned mine with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip, this is what was suggested to me by a supporting vender on this site.

Do you have to actually take the MAF sensor out and clean it, or so you just reach down in there and clean it while it's still connected?

Clean it as it sits mounted in the MAF itself.
