Gears....
It's there, but it's in code. Look for "Axle" and the code for it will be something like "H9" (3.55 Limited Slip) or "I9" (3.55 Open). I don't recall the others, but just take another look and post it and someone will be able to tell you what it is.

Unless someone removed it there should be a metal tag attached to one of the cover plate bolts on your rear differential. The last three numbers on the tag is your gear ratio. There is also a letter code on the door tag that tells you what gear set you have but I don't remember what they are. These codes have been posted before. You will have to search through the threads on this site. Good luck.
Yep the tag on the diff. is the deciding factor
. For example, if the gears were 3:55 limited slip, the tag would read,,,,3 L 55. If it's an open dif, it would read,,,,3 55. Good luck finding your ratio

I was on the F-150 world web sight and ran accross this list. I knew I had seen it before but couldn't remember where. Both F-150 online and F-150 world offer tons of info about our trucks. I browse them both almost daily.
Thanks!
Looks like I have a 355 Limited Slip. I also checked the weight of my truck.... holy hell... 6,032lbs. Im driving a tank. I think its time for me to trade in my truck for the new Super Charged Harley. =)

Seems like there are a lot of F-150 owners out there that want a fast truck with outstanding gas milage. The only way that is going to happen it to transform the veh. into something it was not designed for. I have to admit I also looked for more power and better performance. Let's face it these are heavy vehicles. Especially if it is a 4by. I put a superchip and 4.10's ETC to help getting off the line and it helped especially when I have had my Jeep in tow (Truck not used for rock crawling). Sure likes to fly now but does not pass too many gas pumps. Anyone out there find the answer let us know short of buying something smaller or brand new.
