Flex Fan
I'm looking into replacing my stock radiator fan with a Flex Fan. It's probably not as efficient as the electric fan alternative but I can get a "bolt on" Flex Fan for less than $40. Does anybody have any experience with Flex Fans?

Yes, if you don't use a clutch a flex fan is real noisy!

HandyMan,
You might be wasting your money. Your truck has fan clutch which slows down your fan when it doesn't need it. The flex fan is designed to change the pitch of the blades when spinning at high rpm which reduces the drag. You will need to know at what rpm the pitch changes on the flex fan. The OEM clutch allows the fan to turn at 1500 rpm when the water pump is turning at 3000 rpm when not needed and min 2300 rpm when needed.
So at a water pump speed of 5000 rpm the fan turns at between 2500 and 3800 rpm. So if the fan starts to flex at 4000 rpm it is not realy needed.
