Post Superchip ???

I am looking to buy a superchip for my 98 F-150. I was wondering what the difference was between the regular chip and the flip chip. Thanks for the help guys.

Hi Sniper,

Just as a suggestion, for info on computer chips, there is a separate section here on the F-150 Online message boards for that topic, where you will find a lot of good info, if you'd care to take a look.

To answer your question, the Flip Chip is a special 2-program type of Superchip, that can store any combination of 2 different programs, and allows you to select which program you're running on by flipping the attached switch.

The "standard" Superchip contains 1 program, which is our normal performance program that requires the use of premium gas in these vehicles.

The Flip Chip is generally used when you need any custom programming done for major mechancial modifications, or if you still want to be able to run regular gas sometimes with the Superchip. A number of F-150 & Expedition owners have had us set them up with a pair of programs that has thw vehicle tuned for 87 octane on one side, and then our normal performance program for premium gas on the other side.

To go over the details, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below, and we'll be happy to go over all the various options, etc. with you, so you can give it some thought.
