KY, you bring up a good point. I was just reading my Ford service manual and it does say not to clean the throttle body at all. It also says not to reuse the gasket (but yours was practically new). I was going to report back my official findings and you beat me to it.

Prior to cleaning my TB, I had "heard" that Ford uses a special coating, but read many posts on various boards and the consensus was that cleaning is actually OK. I'm sure Ford would rather sell you a new TB...at some outrageous price.

KYFord Freak,

Great info! Your post is one of those "print and save in my F-150 tips and tricks manual" that I am making for myself. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to provide that process.

Jimmsimms,

Your point is well taken. Infact, your reasoning is why I prefer to read accounts of "real world" F150 mechanical experiences as well as reading repair manuals before diving in on a project.

Iron Horse, you might want to wait till you get to the next mod to check out all that stuff. You have to take it off anyhow. If you have a good set of instruction for the Magna, you will easily be able to tell what is what.
I wish I had known about all of this stuff when I did my install.

Error in my previous post: It's not 140 miles it almost 140,000 miles. Big difference.

Not a problem, I'm glad I can just spread the info that I have learned here and on my own. I must accredited Jefflaws for walking me through my EGR problems. Without him I would have never taken the TB off.

I have noticed a slight whistle coming from my engine which must be some type of vacuum leak, not sure where. So far there's no new problems from this but my EGR problem is still present. I think I might get a new mounting gasket and reperform the procedure. Should be much easier now that I know what I'm doing.

I agree with wittom, just wait and do it then.
