Post upgrading Spark plug wires

So, A friend of mine just added a set of high quality egnition wires on his new focus. He said it helps "a lot". I've seen the Bosch wires around obviously, in shops. What has caught my eye is the Jacobs Egnition system. I guess it replaces the electronic distributor and wires for better efficiency. Does anyone have this or a similar system? Any noticible gains?
Thanks for the input.
BJ

He's a funny guy, he's turning it into a rice burner practically. Removed the exaust resonators, added a fipk so he's working on it. sounds like a lawnmower now!
