you need a fuel line release tool, your local auto parts store should have one, push the line towards the filter to release tension, insert the tool to open the retainer clip [inside the fuel line] and the lines should pull off, the filter is on the frame rail driver's side

I have a how-to article with pictures on how to change the fuel filter. See my sig for the details. F-150 Online also has a how-to article, but without pictures.

It's really in the bracket tight. It took me a good 5 or 10 minutes of fighting and prying and twisting the thing out. The new one just snaps into place.

E-mail me if you want any more information.

Or you can unbolt the bracket after you get the lines off of it, so you can wrestle it standing up in a fair fight, instead of laying on the ground.

What's a good fuel filter?

Motercraft? Purolator? Doesn't really matter?

Hi guys and gals--thanks for your replies...I will let my bro know!
As far as which filter is the best....I work for a major known name auto parts distribution center, and we carry purolator, and Motorcraft...but I have always used Purolator, and have never had any problems.
Anyone else?

Purolator and motorcraft are the same. Purolator makes the motorcraft filters.

are there any problems with the FRAM fuel filters? Got one at Wal-mart and just haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

Thumbs down

Jlaird,
I would be weary about using any type of Fram filter. I don't know much about the fuel filters, but anything I've ever read about the oil filters say that they STINK(poor filtering quality, poorly designed and assembled filter, fliter elements coming apart,etc.-you get the idea). So, like I say, I would be weary about using any fliter that has Fram on it, or that is made by Fram or whatever.
Just my .02 worth
Puralator(oil/fuel fliters), Mobil-1(oil filters), and K&N(air) filters for me.
