K&N Filter Question

I'm considering putting a K&N air filter into my 2001 F-150 SuperCrew. I'm impressed with what I've read about them and with what I've heard. My question is, how often should you clean them and has anyone had any trouble with them? Thanks in advance fellas

BTW, my truck has the 5.4 V8. Also is 4x4 Off Road

I've had one for a few years and I stopped cleaning it too often (every oil change). Depending on your driving conditions, I would only clean it about every 10-15K miles. They say when it turns grey with dirt it's ready. Make sure you keep it oiled though. I knock out the debris and bugs and give it a quick spray of oil about every 3K miles.

I usually clean mine once a year maybe twice and have had no problems.
