Ive removed the timing chain cover on my 4.2L engine and need info on the cam shaft postioner. Ford has a special tool to do the job, but is there some way around buying the tool? Any help would be appreciated

 

If you have a service manual it sould show you how to count the links and line them up with the crank gear and the two cam gears. Usually ford was nice and made the links gold...it is the halfway point of the chain, good luck, be sure to colapse the tensioners how the manual instructs u to.
