What will it do
My check engine light is on and I know its the emmission sensors. I am no longer under warrenty and do not have enough money at this time to replace whatever sensor is bad. My question is if I have to wait a while before I can get it fixed will it mess up my engine. I really love my truck and if not replacing the sensor right away is bad I will park my truck until money is obtained. All info is greatly appriciated becasue i really want to drive my truck.

If you're under 50K miles, and 5 years, than many of the emissions components WILL be covered by emissions system warranty. I believe for CA vehicles, that period is even longer.
That said, your problem could be nothing, or it could be serious cat-con melt-down maker. The only way to know is to pull the codes, and se what the computer is complaining about. There are DIY code readers available, and they're about the price of a couple of diagnostic sessions at the dealer.
FWIW, on the OBDII vehicles, something stupid like a loose gas cap will turn on the SES. Or you could have a problem like a failihg speed sensor, which may cause your tranny to self-destruct. I'd keep a VERY close ear out for any signs of poor performance, misfire, or funky shifting, and get it looked at before your $200 problem turns into a $2500 problem.

My 96 Mustang had one of them sensor go out 3 time I had it fixed the first 2 time the 3rd time I disconected the battery for a few minutes and it cleared it for awhile so if you don't have the money try that its just a temp fix until you have the money to get it fixed right or trade it off for something new.
