Post Sparkplugs?

Was looking at the sparkplugs in my 97 F150 w/4.6 litre noted that the plugs are stamped with 2 different numbers Motorcraft AWSF 32 PG the other side is AWSF 32 P why? Another question for platinum plugs they shure look buurnt away at the elctrodes. What kind of plugs do you use if you where to replace them?

Thanks kirth

you sound surprised? why?

The factory just pulls them out of the box and installs them. No gapping at all. Maybe on a SVT it is different, but normal Ford no way!

You should just get copper plugs. the $.99 ones. Replace them every 15k at the most. Platinum is nice, but does not conduct electricity as well as copper. That is why all supercharger and aftermarket ignition companies say to ONLY use copper plugs.

For the P and PG, I dont know the difference of those plugs.

It's cheaper for Ford to only put platinum on the portion of the plug that needs it to prolong it's life. Replacements are double platinums and can be put on either side of the engine. You have the 3 coil packs right? All the eninges with that ignition are like that.

------------------
2000 F150 XLT 4x4 Short Bed. Amazon Green, 5.4L, SuperCab, ORP, Tow Package, Sliding Rear Window, Electronic Shift, Keyless Entry, LT265-70-17 Tires, Clarion Pro Audio, Herculiner Bedliner, Air Silencer Removed.

1994 SVT Mustang Cobra. #1032 of 6009. Black coupe with black leather int., 3.73 rear, Bassani Exhaust, Aluminum D/S, Bridgestone RE-71 255-45-ZR17

what the deal is on the spark plugs is this.. in a DIS ignition system the oposing cylider hada waist spark at btdc. when the opposite cyylinder fires the spark actually travels in the opposite direction. Ford MO CO, in an effort to save a penny on platnum puts the platnum on the "wear" side of the plug. When you replace the plugs you go with double platnum plugs and it doesn't matter which side they are installed. I fyou look at your coil packs you will se a mark showing the cylinder designation i.e. 1/3 meaning
it fires both sides. So when they say you have 100,000 mi plugs they are wrong.. you have 100,000 [actually 60,000] plugs after they are changed with a "PP" plug. Copper plugs will work just fine and actually give a "hotter" spark..they just wear out faster..[30,000 mi}.

What are you talking about superdave? I couldn't figure out anything you said. The spark grounds to the motor. It doesn't go through another plug. If they used platinums for the wear side they would put them on both sides because both sides fire when they reach tdc on the power stroke.
