I use fram filters (I've heard that they aren't that great so I'm going to change brands next time) and Castrol oil. Are you a member of the Washington F-series chapter? If not, let me know and I'll give you the info. It is free. On the 31st of March they are having dyno day over there. Not exactly sure where it is.

I too have been a Fram guy for a long time. Next oil change gets a Mobil 1, Purolator One or Motorcraft after reading a couple different tests and studies from links here. http://members.nbci.com/minimopar/oilfilterstudy.html for one example.

I've also been using Pennzoil in my Expy but I've used Vavoline. Again, next oil change, synthetic, probably Mobil 1 if I don't go with Amsoil.

After ready some about it, dino oil is fine as long as it's changed when it should be. The filter however, I must agree needs to be a good quality.

the second numbers are the viscosity of the oil at 100C.

So if you look at the sae numbers for a 30 weight oil @ 100C it should be 9.3CST to 12.5CST (CST stand for Centistokes)

If you find a good 5w30 or 0w30 you will be okay.

Ive always used motorcraft oil filters(part #FL-820S) and valvoline full synthetic. I have recently switched to Royal Purple 5W-30 motor oil. Engine does seem to run smoother and quieter. Also added their Purple Ice coolant treatment to radiator and engine temp. has decreased. Its expensive(6.00 a quart for the oil) but well worth it in my opinion.

I use Amsoil 5W30 and the Amsoil SDF11 oil filter. I have noticed a difference after changing from Motorcraft Oil and filter. My truck seems to start easier and idle quiter. I have heard of people having great results with Redline and Mobil 1 products. My brothers use Amsoil for racing and have great success with it. This is how I got turned on to it. Also, Amsoil is cheaper than Redline and compares to Mobil 1 if you get the preferred customer discount.

You can do a search on engine oils, Amsoil, etc., and find a ton information on this subject. You can also check out the Amsoil website, www.amsoil.com, or the Mobil website @ www.mobil.com. If found both of these sites useful in deciding.

From what I have read on this site and from personal experience, Mobil 1, Amsoil, and Redline are your top synthetic oils and filters. Good luck in deciding! Whatever you choose to use, I'm sure you will be pleased with it!

r0land and chech77,
The Bosch filter is a Champion labs filter--as is an AC Delco Duraguard, STP, and a few others. Visit [URL=http://members.nbic.com/minimopar/oilfilters.html] for a description on some popular filters. (sorry, I don't know how to do a hyperlink ) I got this link off of this site and it has been very informative.

Chech77,
For synthetic, I see Mobil 1 and Amsoil recommended most on the site. I would go with Mobil 1 b/c it is easier to come by.
For dino oil-Mobil drive Clean or Valvoline All-Climate all the way!!!
