I had a 2000 f-150 with the 5.4 in it. It had a rough idle that ford could not fix. Ford replaced my truck with a new 2002 f-150 with the 5.4. At about the same mileage (4000) as my old 2000 5.4, it started to idle rough. I want to solve the problem, but I'm stumped like everyone else. I would like to keep this post open to responses/messages that relate to success stories in regards to solving the rough idle problem or current information that relates to solving the rough idle problem.

There is a number people can call to complain about the problem which is 888-327-4236. It's for the NHTSA. From what I've heard, if they get enough complaints about a problem, they can cause problems for ford. I found the number and information on www.ford-enthusiasts.com.

 

my dad has a 00 expy with the 5.4l.it also idled rough,he took it to the dealer and they put softer motor mounts on and now the vibration is gone....
